Firefighter/Paramedic Job Application

Application Deadline: Monday, January 6, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.

Starting Salary: $78,451.18

Minimum Requirements:

Must be a minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age at time of hire and cannot be 35 years of age or older at time of hire. (Unless exempt by state statute).
U.S. Citizenship
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
Valid Driver’s License
Illinois State Fire Marshal Certified Basic Firefighter or Firefighter II due at application deadline
Successful completion of the Candidate Physical Ability Test with Ladder Climb Certification conducted by a licensed agency due at time of hire and dated within 1 year
Current IDPH EMT-P (Paramedic) Certification due at time of hire

Required Documentation due January 6, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. (must be mailed or hand delivered, email submissions are not accepted):

Confirmed online application (available after download)
Consent and release agreement (available after download)
Copy of high school diploma/GED
Copy of valid driver’s license
Copy of birth record as proof of citizenship – may include U.S. County/State issued birth record, valid U.S. passport or naturalization papers
Copy of Firefighter II or Basic Operations Firefighter (BOF) Certification from the Office of the State Fire Marshall (Illinois)
Optional: Copy of CPAT and Ladder Climb certification – due at time of hire
Optional: Copy of valid Paramedic License from the Illinois Department of Public Health – due at time of hire

Testing Information:

Your exam will be offered electronically, and you will take the exam in your own home. Testing session(s) will be offered to eligible candidates and will be proctored virtually. Session(s) will be offered during business hours the week of February 3, 2025. No weekend or evening sessions will be available – it is your responsibility to ensure you have the flexibility to test during these times. In late January you will receive an email with instructions on how to schedule and prepare for the exam.

You will also need to print and sign the release form and gather the required documentation above for submission to IOS Recruitment by 01/06/2025 at 4:00 p.m. Failure to complete any portion of the application process will eliminate you from further consideration.
